Pastor Training team flies to Africa

George M. (Kenya) and George B. (Ghana) were glad when our staff team came to their countries last week. They want to see African pastors trained to help reach not just their countries but the “Sahara Belt” for Christ. This training will be done on mobile phones so the pastors can continue to minister to their congregations while they are learning.

Our team, consisting of Mark Hallsten, Kay Seabourn, and Karin Tome, brought memory cards and training curriculum. They trained Ghanian and Kenyan coordinators, and left the curriculum with them. Under supervision of George M. and George B., the coordinators will orient their first group of student-pastors for 3 days in February. Later the coordinators will orient more pastors; the goal this year is to train over 2400 pastors from 11 countries.

Before our team left, I was trying to test some technical features with Zarc in Nairobi. We were on the phone with an 8-hour time zone difference. If we were face-to-face we could have tested the features in 10 minutes. On the phone it was 90 minutes, and we are not done. Most of the interaction between our team and the other teams on the project has been through email and voice, which is cheapest but not necessarily the best way. There have been misunderstandings and delays by all of the teams. Please pray for better communication and trust.
