Pictured here, in an Ethiopian restaurant are bottom row: Kay, Karin, David H, and Kelly. (top row) Miheret and myself.
Our trip to Africa had 2 main objectives. The first was to help our missionaries build a personal website with our tool, the Global ConneXion, or GCX. We did this in 2-day classes in the countries of Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Ethiopia. The second objective was to train missionary “tech leaders” in Africa how to teach the website-building class. We worked with Kelly from Zimbabwe, and Miheret from Ethiopia. Miheret is the digital strategies team leader for Southern and Eastern Africa (which includes all 3 countries we visited). Kelly is the IT team leader for Southern and Eastern Africa .
David H and Karin conducted the first training in Zambia while Kelly observed. In the second training (Zimbabwe), Kelly helped a little. In the third training in Ethiopia, Kelly and Miheret did almost all of the training. The 4 Americans (Kay, Karin, David H, and myself) worked one-on-one with individual staff members while they were building their websites.
Two hours after this photo, the 4 Americans flew home. Kelly and Miheret plan to conduct another GCX training in Madagascar in June. They will look for people in Africa who are gifted in teaching and training who can help them. We will continue to support Kelly and Miheret with our time and resources.
