I posted in May about a farmer in IL who was hoping for a good harvest. His field corn had just sprouted. I stayed with him again 2 weeks ago. Now he is harvesting what looks to be a record-breaking yield of corn. Here I am at the same field.
Holly and I presented our ministry on this trip and were introduced by 2 couples who started to follow Jesus Christ after hearing a talk from a Cru staff member at Bradley University. Since that time they have influenced hundreds of people with the good news that Jesus died for our sins, including the woman who explained who Jesus was to me a few years later. I was involved in the ministry at Bradley 10 years after they had learned how to follow Christ there. It was exciting and humbling to see spiritual multiplication at work on a personal level.
This reminds me of the Bible verse John 4:35. Jesus wasn’t talking just about the ripening crop, but the people he saw coming to hear the good news —
“Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.”
