Faculty Commons is Cru’s ministry to the professors and staff at many college campuses. On their website, www.facultycommons.com, they quote Bill Bright as saying “If I could start Campus Crusade for Christ over again, I would begin by working with professors.” Faculty are incredibly influential in students’ lives. Here is a story from Howie and Nance, who serve at the University of Florida (UF).
At the start of this academic year, Nance and I asked God for 10 faculty to come to faith in Christ. In the last 2 weeks, we’ve seen a faculty and an administrator indicate decisions for Christ, making a total of 5 this semester. Last Thursday, Nance met with 2 professors for lunch. Sensing one of them wasn’t sure of her relationship with Christ, Nance asked her if she knew where she would spend eternity. The question was out of her mouth before she realized she had uttered it. Incredibly, the faculty responded with, “This exact question has troubled me for a long time. I don’t know the answer, but I would like to know.” And she did! That day, she prayed to receive Christ with Nance when they reviewed the Knowing God Personally booklet (an evangelistic tool that we utilize in Cru).
